Located in Benalmádena, in the heart of the Costa del Sol, Selwo Marina has the only Dolphinarium and Penguin Colony in Andalusia. In this exclusive Park, you can enjoy incomparable adventures transporting you to different South American locations to learn about their most charismatic fauna up-close in a land full of contrasts, starting in the warm Caribbean and ending in the icy Antarctic lands.
The adventure starts in La Placita de las Américas, where a legendary ‘crista gallis’ tree from the faraway lands of Latin America, with its twisted trunk and beautiful red velvety flowers, welcomes visitors and invites them to embark upon a fascinating expedition of discovery through Selwo Marina.
Dolphins and sea lions
A relaxing stroll leads to the Las Antillas area. Unique, playful young sea lion specimens from the far-off lands of Chilean and Argentinean Patagonia welcome the visitor to this Caribbean landscape. The large Selwo Marina Dolphinarium complex is made up of a large stand so as to comfortably see the dolphin and sea lion shows and by five swimming pools, two for training, one for reproduction, one for veterinary treatment and one for shows.
Exotic birds and Amazonia
After visiting and enjoying the dolphins and sea lions, head in and discover La Hondonada, a gully area for exhibiting exotic birds from one of the most legendary and outstanding areas in South America – Amazonia.
Amazonia transports the visitor to the most celebrated and charismatic tropical rainforest with a large selection of flora and fauna from the mighty Amazon. In total, this habitat houses over 800 animals, with nearly 50 different species, and 40 species of plants.
A change to the tour landscape and temperature moves the visitor into the chilly southern lands of Latin America -Ice Island, where the cold is the star of everything around. Ice Island houses the first Penguinarium in Andalusia and the Placita de las Américas – where visitors are shown out, but not without the opportunity to quench their thirst and satisfy their appetite in the La Colonial Restaurant-Cafeteria.
